Our story

Built for every child wholearns differently

Aika was created to make learning more personal, more supportive, and more effective helping children build confidence, find weak spots, and make real progress at their own pace.

Why we exist

Every child learns differently. Traditional learning often treats them as if they do not: same speed, same way, same strengths. Aika was built to change that.

The problem we set out to solve

Real learning problems need personalised solutions.

Many children do not struggle because they are not capable. They struggle because the learning experience is not adapted to them. Worksheets, homework, and whole-class teaching can quietly miss what matters most.

A child may be practising at the wrong level entirely

Weak foundations go unnoticed until they cause trouble

Parents cannot always see where their child is stuck

Tutors lack visibility between sessions

Confidence drops when learning feels confusing or repetitive

Progress is hard to measure clearly over time

Personalised learning at the heart of Aika

Learning that adapts to the child.

Rather than giving every child the same task, Aika builds practice around where the child is, what they have already mastered, and where they need support next.

What that looks like

“The right practice, at the right level, at the right time for one child, not the average of thirty.”

  • Parents understand exactly where progress is happening
  • Tutors know the right next step before each session
  • Children feel less overwhelmed, more capable

Why Aika was created

Created from a real family need.

Aika was not built as a theoretical product. It came from a real experience. Co-founder Amit Mehta faced the problem first-hand with his two children. Like many parents, he wanted to support their learning but found it hard to know exactly where they needed help, what level was right, and how to keep things consistent without making it stressful.

The issue was real: children learn differently, and it is not always obvious where the gaps are. Through using Aika, the change was transformational learning became more structured and personalised, weaknesses became clearer, practice became targeted, and progress became easy to see.

A driving force behind Aika's mission: to give every child access to learning that understands them better.

Technology built with purpose

AI for good, built by people who believe in better outcomes.

Co-founder Dev Day brings deep experience in technology, company building, and applied AI. A firm believer in AI for good, Dev has long held that the most meaningful use of technology is to improve real human outcomes.

For Dev, Aika is the kind of AI product that should exist: practical, responsible, helpful, and designed to genuinely support children, parents, and educators.

Not to replace teachers, tutors or parents, to give them better tools.

Built with educators, parents and children

Guided by people who understand learning.

Learning products should not be built by technology alone. A broad board of advisors keeps Aika practical, age-appropriate, and grounded in real educational experience.

Children

Children are part of the feedback loop too. Their confidence, enjoyment, and progress shape what we build. Aika is made with children, not just for them.

Why paper still matters

Less screen time. More focused learning.

AI is powerful, but children still benefit enormously from working on paper. Writing by hand, showing working, and correcting mistakes helps them slow down, focus, and think more clearly.

Better concentrationLess screen fatigueNatural maths workingHandwriting practiceEasier parent involvementA calmer environment

Smart technology in the background.
Real learning on paper.

Aika personalises everything behind the scenes. The child's experience stays simple, practical, and off-screen.

What we believe

The beliefs that shape everything we build.

Every child learns differently

Children need learning that adapts to them, not the other way around.

Confidence comes from progress

Practising at the right level lets children build confidence step by step.

Parents need clarity

Parents should not have to guess where their child is struggling.

Tutors need better insight

Stronger support comes from understanding what happens between sessions.

AI should support, not replace

Aika supports children, parents, tutors and teachers and never replaces human guidance.

Off-screen learning matters

Technology should make learning smarter without more time on screens.

Learning should feel achievable

The right practice, at the right time, can make learning feel less stressful and far more rewarding.

Print with purpose

Supporting paper-based learning, responsibly.

We encourage focused, paper-based learning because it can be better for children's attention, confidence, and understanding. But using paper should come with responsibility.

That is why tree planting and print compensation are an important part of our mission. As Aika grows, we want to help support a more sustainable approach to learning materials balancing the benefits of paper with genuine environmental care.
